The momentum in this thread compelled me to answer Mo's question:

Jango Fett was regarded as the best bounty hunter in the galaxy in the final years of the Republic and is Boba Fett's father.

(No Mr. Administrator, before you shame me publicly, I didn't know this info off the top of my head, but went to every Star Wars Geek's favorite website http://www.starwars.com/databank/character/jangofett/
to get the answer.)

Luke....
i am your school bus driver....
heavy breathing. heavy breathing.

see. when you put this kind of thing in perspective, the bus driver organizing them into teams of space warriors isn't so bad.

and who the hell is jango?

Are you kidding?
consiracy theorist... You're all the same.

This isn't the driver's fault. These kids need to accept some personal responsibility here. I mean, what is this country coming to? Those little rodent kids could have said, "I'm not going to kick the skinny whiney-baby kid's ass even if you, the all powerful school bus driver, says its ok and even encourages such behavior. WWJD is what they should have been thinking.

This was a test of the moral integrity of the future of this country. And the little bastards failed, not only themselves but their parents, school, and community. That school should have an couple of assembly lectures or something.

And another point, since when do middle school kids listen to anybody... especially bus driving Star Wars Geeks.

I think there is more to this story than they're letting on in the article. I've basically narrowed it down to 2 possibilities, both based on the premise that once you start something like that, simply dethroning the emperor isn't going to make it stop.

option 1

After the Sith Lord was vanquished, his apprentices immediately filled the void and began an era of totalitarian control and violence that made every citizen of the republic yearn for the brutal but fair regime of lord bus driver. Most severely punished, of course, is the rat bastard who brought the emperor down. I'm sure he is receiving daily swirlies in unflushed Sarlac pits. And he thought they smelled bad.... on the outside.

option 2 (I like this one better)

The rat bastard who turned in the bus driver, feigning to be a weak sniveling bitch, was actually the bus driver's apprentice. Having learned all he could from the bus driver, and feeling he had surpassed his master, he used his cunning to dethrone the bus driver and assume his position as lord emperor, simultaneously gaining sympathy and support from the masses. Now, he is probably head of the bus safety commitee, where he will propose, and receive, sweeping emergency powers in the name of bus security. Granted these powers, he will crush all opposition and dissent, firmly cementing himself as the grand emperor of Staten Island middle school.
